Anyone familiar with the Club Kids (late 1980s, early 1990s New York) knew who Michael Alig was, as he was the co-founder.  At the time, Alig was a very well known and outrageous party promoter.  He was the king of the Underground Club Scene.  It is known he was heavily addicted to drugs.

In 1996, Alig murdered his drug dealer/friend Angel Melendez over a drug related dispute.

His story was told by close friend and fellow Club Kid James St. James in a book titled Party Monster.  Shortly afterwards, it was made into a movie, starring Macaulay Culkin as Michael Alig and Seth Green as James St. James.  Other well-known actors and actresses in Party Monster included Marilyn Manson, Chloe Sevigny, Dylan McDermott, Mia Kirshner, Wilmer Valderrama, and Natasha Lyonne.


Alig is currently doing his time at the Elmira Correctional Facility in New York.  It is unknown when he will be released.
